Prayers and Devotions to the Blessed Trinity

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

(50 Days. 100 Days if made with Holy Water--Pius IX, 1865.)

To the Trinity Dwelling in the Soul

O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee who are dwelling by Thy grace within my soul.

O Most Holy Trinity, who art dwelling by Thy grace within my soul, make me love Thee more and more.

O Most Holy Trinity, who art dwelling by Thy grace within my soul, sanctify me more and more.

Abide with me, O Lord; be Thou my true joy.

(Indulgence of 300 days for each of the above
prayers even when recited separately)

Consecration to the Three Persons

In order that I may be a living act of perfect love, I offer myself as a whole burnt offering to Thy tender love, beseeching Thee to consume me continually, letting my soul overflow with the floods of infinite tenderness that are found in Thee, that so I may become a martyr of Thy love, O God! Let this martyrdom make me ready to appear before Thee and at last cause me to expire; let my soul cast itself without delay into the everlasting arms of Thy merciful love. With every beat of my heart I desire, O my dearly Beloved, to renew this offering an infinite number of times, until that day when the shadows shall vanish and I shall be able to retell my love in eternal union with Thee!

In Praise of the Trinity

With our whole heart and voice we glorify Thee, we praise Thee, we bless Thee, God the Father unbegotten, the only-begotten Son, the Holy Ghost, the Paraclete, the holy and undivided Trinity.

For Thou art great, and dost wonderful things: Thou alone art God. To Thee be praise, to Thee glory, to Thee thanksgiving forever and ever, O blessed Trinity!

(Roman Missal)

Prayer for Zeal

O Lord, our God, we believe in Thee, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. As far as I have been able, as much as Thou hast given me the power to do so, I have sought for Thee. I have desired to see that in which I believe; much have I striven and labored.

Lord, my God, my only hope, let me never tire of seeking Thee, but make me seek Thy face with constant ardor. Give me the strength to seek after Thee--Thou who hast made me find Thee, who hast given me more and more the hope of finding Thee.

Thou seest my strength and my weakness; do Thou sustain the one and heal the other; Thou seest my strength and my ignorance. Where Thou hast opened to me, come make me welcome; where Thou hast closed to me, open to my plea. Give me to remember, understand, and love Thee.

(Saint Augustine)

Prayer of Thanks

O eternal God! Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; the beginning and end of all things; in whom we live and move and have our being; prostrate before Thee in body and soul, I adore Thee. I bless Thee and give Thee thanks. What return can I make to Thee, O God, for all that Thou hast done for me? I will bless Thy Holy Name, and serve Thee all the days of my life. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and let all that is within me bless His Holy Name. Amen.

Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity

Omnipotence of the Father, help my weakness, and deliver me from the depth of misery.

Wisdom of the Son, direct all my thoughts, words and actions.

Love of the Holy Ghost, be thou the source and beginning of all the operations of my soul, whereby they may be always conformable to the divine will.

Prayer to the Holy Trinity

I Adore Thee, O my God, one God in three Persons; I annihilate myself before thy Majesty. Thou alone art being, life, truth, beauty, and goodness. I glorify Thee, I praise Thee, I thank Thee, and I love Thee, all incapable and unworthy as I am, in union with thy dear Son Jesus Christ, our Saviour and our Father, in the mercifulness of his heart and through his infinite merits. I wish to serve Thee, to please Thee, to obey Thee, and to love Thee always, in union with Mary immaculate, Mother of God and our Mother, loving also and serving my neighbour for Thy sake. Therefore, give me Thy Holy Spirit to enlighten, correct, and guide me in the way of Thy commandments, and in all perfection, until we come to the happiness of heaven, where we shall glorify Thee forever. Amen.

Petition to the Holy Trinity

Most Holy Trinity, Godhead indivisible, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, our first beginning and our last end, since Thou hast made us after Thine own image and likeness, grant that all the thoughts of our minds, all the words of our tongues, all the affections of our hearts and all our actions may be always conformed to Thy most holy will, to the end that after having seen Thee here below in appearances and by means of faith, we may come at last to contemplate Thee face-to-face in the perfect possession of Thee forever in paradise. Amen.

Litany of the Most Holy Trinity

Blessed be the holy Trinity and undivided Unity: we will give glory to Him, because He hath shown His mercy to us.

V. O Lord our Lord, how wonderful is Thy Name in all the earth!
R. O the depth of the riches of the wisdom and of the knowledge of God!

Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Blessed Trinity, hear us,
Adorable Unity, graciously hear us.
God, the Father of heaven,
Have mercy on us.*

God, the Son, Redeemer of the world,*
God, the Holy Ghost, *
Holy Trinity, one God, *
Father, from Whom are all things, *
Son, through Whom are all things, *
Holy Ghost, in Whom are all things, *
Holy and undivided Trinity, *
Father everlasting, *
Only-begotten Son of the Father, *
Spirit Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, *
Co-eternal Majesty of Three Divine Persons, *
Father, the Creator, *
Son, the Redeemer, *
Holy Ghost, the Comforter, *
Holy, holy, holy Lord God of hosts, *
Who art, Who wast, and Who art to come, *
God, Most High, Who inhabitest eternity, *
To Whom alone are due all honor and glory, *
Who alone doest great wonders, *
Power infinite, *
Wisdom incomprehensible, *
Love unspeakable, *

Be merciful.
Spare us, O Holy Trinity.
Be merciful.
Graciously hear us, O Holy Trinity.

From all evil,
Deliver us, O Holy Trinity.**

From all sin,**
From all pride, **
From all love of riches, **
From all uncleanness,**
From all sloth, **
From all inordinate affection, **
From all envy and malice, **
From all anger and impatience, **
From every thought, word, and deed, contrary to Thy holy law, **
From Thy everlasting malediction, **
Through Thy almighty power, **
Through Thy plenteous loving kindness, **
Through the exceeding treasure of Thy goodness and love, **
Through the depths of Thy wisdom and knowledge, **
Through all Thy unspeakable perfections, **

We sinners, Beseech Thee, hear us.
That we may ever serve Thee alone,
We beseech Thee, hear us.***

That we may worship Thee in spirit and in truth, ***
That we may love Thee with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our strength, ***
That, for Thy sake, we may love our neighbor as ourselves, ***
That we may faithfully keep Thy holy commandments, ***
That we may never defile our bodies and souls with sin, ***
That we may go from grace to grace, and from virtue to virtue, ***
That we may finally enjoy the sight of Thee in glory, ***
That Thou wouldst vouchsafe to hear us, ***

O blessed Trinity,
We beseech Thee, deliver us.
O blessed Trinity,
We beseech Thee, save us.
O blessed Trinity,
Have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Our Father (silently). Hail, Mary (silently).

V. Blessed art Thou, O Lord, in the firmament of heaven.
R. And worthy to be praised, and glorious, and highly exalted forever.

Let us pray:

Almighty and everlasting God, Who hast granted Thy servants in the confession of the true faith, to acknowledge the glory of an Eternal Trinity, and in the power of Thy majesty to adore a Unity: we beseech Thee that by the strength of this faith we may be defended from all adversity. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
